About the station
The station's former name came from the Toshselmash plant, which made cotton-picking machines. The columns and ceiling are finished in reddish-green marble, the cast-glass lamps follow a design by artist V. Gan, and the floors are laid with granite.
The name
«Mashinasozlar» is Uzbek for «machine builders». Until 1 May 1992 the station was called «Toshselmash», after the agricultural machinery plant that made cotton-picking machines. In the design stage it was called «Selmashskaya».
Design
A pillar station built of precast reinforced concrete. The columns and ceiling of the hall are faced with reddish-green «Sayon-Shusha» marble, the passage walls with translucent marble, and the floors with granite. Cast-glass lamps run along the centre of the ceiling, continue on the stair walls and end in a composition by V. Gan in the lobby.
History
The station opened in November 1987 on the Toshkent–Chkalov section. The eastern lobby, on the industrial-zone side, was handed over unfinished and stood closed for many years because of low passenger numbers. After repairs it opened on 11 December 2025.
Fun fact
In the lobby the lights are fixed to the ceiling ribs and hidden behind aluminium grilles, so the light there is soft and diffused.
