About the station
«Tinchlik» means «peace». Its columns widen towards the top, are faced with Nurata marble and lit from above, and crystal chandeliers with brass trim hang in the middle of the hall. One of the lobbies was, for the first time, built as one space with the underpass — only a stained-glass wall separates them.
The name
«Tinchlik» is Uzbek for «peace» — in the sense of peacetime, life without war.
Design
It is a three-span pillar station with a 102 m island platform. The columns widen towards the top, are faced with Nurata marble and lit at the top. Crystal chandeliers with brass trim hang in the middle of the hall; the decor includes art ceramics, stained glass and marble from Nuratau and Gazgan.
History
The station opened on 30 April 1991 on the line's last section, from Chorsu to Beruniy. Its structures are made of precast reinforced concrete. One of its two underground lobbies is unusual: it shares a single space with the pedestrian underpass and is separated from it only by a stained-glass wall.
Fun fact
In the design stage the station was called «Gafur Gulom» — a name now carried by another station on the same line.
